Jets push pause on Revis trade to Bucs

Both the Buccaneers and Jets have started their offseason workout programs today and Darrelle Revis has reported for New York. And as Revis makes his appearance, it is being reported the Jets are throttling back on a trade with the Bucs.

ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio reports this morning that the Jets are “pressing the pause button” on a Revis trade to the Bucs. He also added that Tampa Bay is offering multiple draft picks, including this year’s first-rounder.

Now the Jets “pausing” the trade for now does not mean that they will no longer be looking into trading away their All-Pro cornerback. Since he has reported to their facility, they could very well be tabling the discussions until they can better evaluate his status and determine his value — whatever that may be.

If the debate between the two sides continues on what the appropriate draft pick compensation is, I shared a possible scenario last week that included the Bucs still drafting at No. 13 but still trading away a first this year. That is, if it gets to that point.

The deal is still expected to get done. Whether it is this week, next week, or weeks from now, the Jets are not expected to start the season with Darrelle Revis on their roster and the Buccaneers remain the only suitors to acquire him.
